Hamilton's Ugly Underbelly: Racism

 

This documentary captures the personal stories of Hamiltonians who have experienced blatant and covert forms of racial discrimination. It covers one of the worst racially motivated hate crime Ontario has witnessed in the early 21st century, the arsoning of the Hindu Samaj Temple, and attempts at social justice and healing from the impact of racism.

Moving to a new country can be a challenging experience. Rahaf recounts her experience resettling as a refugee on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation, also known as Kelowna, Canada.

This documentary explores the hurdles she faced, the supports that have helped her, and a perspective on the relationship between Indigenous People and newcomers.
